They say that to be a writer, one must write. I've been writing since first grade, when I picked up a crayon and wrote my first illustrated short story about an anteater who wouldn't eat ants. I used to write quite a bit more than I do now; all through my teens and twenties, I wrote copiously, but then Life Happened and for the most part, I stopped writing. A friend -- a fellow writer -- told me that he loved that I was always working on something (even though, at the time, I wasn't), that he found it inspiring. That might have been during NaNoWriMo, though, when I would have been working on something.

So. One must write. This is my public writing journal -- that is, writing that I'm willing to let other people see. It is my hope to post at least five completed items here a month, whether essays, reviews or stories, to jog me and get me writing again.
